Real-time collaboration

Draw together, live — not turn by turn

There is no private copy of the picture. Everyone on a canvas paints the same one, and every mark lands for everybody the moment it is made.

  • Strokes stream while they are drawn

Each line travels point by point to everyone looking at that spot, so you see it grow — not appear when it is finished.

  • See who is drawing where

Other people's cursors move beside yours, with a name label for everyone who is signed in.

  • A canvas without edges

The entrance canvas keeps going in every direction, and so can yours — transparent, if you like. It loads in tiles around your view, so it stays quick however much has been drawn.

  • Undo is yours

Undo and redo take back your own strokes only, and everyone watching sees the change at once.

Your own canvases

Make a canvas of your own, and decide who joins

The entrance canvas belongs to everyone. With a free account you can start up to five canvases of your own — for a class, a jam, a group of friends, or just you.

Endless, or exactly the size you need

Keep it endless, pick a preset, or set your own size of up to 10,240 pixels per side — room for a poster-sized piece. On a canvas of fixed size you can even draw zoomed far out, and on a phone Fit to screen shows the whole picture at once.

  • Endless
  • 1024 × 1024
  • 2048 × 2048
  • 2560 × 1536
  • 4096 × 2304
  • Tablet
  • Phone 9:16
  • Your own, up to 10,240

A background of your choice New

White, any colour, or transparent with a checkerboard as in an image editor — for an endless canvas too. Change it any time in the settings; nothing drawn changes, and PNG and SVG exports keep the transparency.

Named the way you write it New

Call it "My Garden" with capitals and spaces: that is the name in the lists, the page title and the settings, while its address stays short and plain.

Public or private

A public canvas is open to everyone signed in. A private one shows only to the people you invite to watch or to draw — and, if you like, to visitors who may watch.

Your canvas, your rules

Invite people to watch or to draw, block those who spoil it or remove what one person drew, and set how close people must zoom in to draw (25 % to 100 %), so lines stay crisp — an endless canvas always has such a limit.

Protect the parts that matter

Mark a part of your canvas as protected — a logo, a finished piece, a frame. Only you, the people you let in and our admins (on a public canvas also our moderators) draw there; everyone else's strokes stop at its edge.

Clear an area, or start fresh New: Undo

Select a rectangle and clear just that part, or the whole canvas. Lines crossing the border go with it, or are cut cleanly at the edge — you choose. Changed your mind? Undo it right after.

You decide who exports what

Choose whether others may save your canvas as a full-resolution image, as SVG or as a time-lapse video. You can always export everything yourself.

Quick at any size New

Strokes are stored in about half the space they took before, so even a huge, busy canvas loads fast — and zoomed far out you see the whole picture at once.

Layers, shared by everyone New

Up to four layers on a canvas of your own of up to 4,096 px a side: sketch under ink, colour under lines, a layer per person. Each has its order, opacity, visibility, a lock and a blend mode (normal, multiply, screen); everyone picks the layer they draw on, and an eraser erases its own layer only. Switch them on when you make the canvas or later in its settings; hidden layers stay out of every export, and the SVG keeps each layer as a group.

Drawing tools

Tools that feel like drawing

One toolbar, a key for every tool and drawing command, and your colour, size, opacity and brush remembered for next time.

P

Pencil

A clean, smooth vector line that stays sharp at every zoom level.

B

Texture brush

192 brushes in three sets, artistic, structural and experimental, with opacity, stamp spacing and rotation tuned in a picker that previews the stroke.

F

Freehand shape

Draw an outline in one motion and it fills — the quick way to block in colour.

E

Eraser

Takes paint away with the same size and pressure control as the drawing tools.

I

Eyedropper

Pick up any colour already on the canvas, the background's too, so your next stroke matches exactly.

M

Move

Drag the view anywhere — or hold Space with any tool to pan without switching.

Z

Zoom

Click to zoom in, or drag a rectangle to fill the screen with exactly that area.

Ctrl Z · Ctrl Y

Undo & redo

Step back and forward through your own strokes, as often as you need.

Shift B

Your own brushes

Make a brush in the brush generator: pick a shape, then soften, squash, turn, add grain or scatter it. Everyone sees your strokes with it, on every canvas and in every export.

Glide and zoom by keys

The arrow keys glide the view, a key held down keeps it moving; plus and minus zoom in and out, Shift F fits a canvas of fixed size on screen.

Alt Shift P

Keys for the menus

The File, Canvases, Tools, Settings and View menus show each entry's key: export a PNG, open a canvas, set the opacity with 1 to 5 and the size with Shift 1 to 5.

Alt G

Go to region

Jump to an exact spot and zoom by its world coordinates — or type them into the fields at the bottom right — and copy a link that opens the canvas right there.

Pen, touch and mouse

Made for the hand you draw with

On a drawing tablet or with Apple Pencil, pressure sets the width and opacity of the line; Settings → Pressure sensitivity tunes how much, or lets it set only one of them, and with a mouse or touchpad your drawing speed can stand in for it. Every sample the pen reports goes into the stroke, so fast curves stay smooth, and the line you see is exactly the line that is saved. Fingers pinch to zoom and pan with two.

240/s pen samples taken into a stroke, not just one per screen frame
1–300% zoom, with Fit to screen and a link to any spot you want to share
0 frames drawn while nothing changes — an idle canvas leaves your battery alone
Export & share

Take your artwork with you

Select any region of a canvas and replay it as a time-lapse video, take it as vectors, or save it as an image. Everything is made right in your browser — nothing to upload, nothing to wait for on a server.

PNG

Pixel-exact image

Exactly what the canvas shows, one image pixel per canvas pixel — transparent where the canvas is.

LINK

A link to the spot

Share a link that opens the canvas at exactly that place and zoom.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Do I need an account to draw?

Yes. Watching is open to everyone; drawing needs a free account: a username and a password, no email address. It shows your name beside your cursor and lets you create canvases of your own.

Does it work on tablets and phones?

Yes. Every tool works with touch, pinch to zoom and two fingers to pan. With a pressure-sensitive pen such as Apple Pencil, how hard you press sets the width and opacity of the line.

How big is a canvas?

The entrance canvas has no edges. A canvas of your own is endless too, or a fixed size: presets for screens, tablets and phones, or your own size of up to 10,240 pixels per side.

Can a canvas have a transparent background?

Yes. A canvas of your own is white, any colour you choose, or transparent, endless or not. A transparent canvas shows a checkerboard as image editors do; its PNG and SVG exports keep the transparency, and a time-lapse video asks which colour to show behind it. You can change the background any time in the settings, and nothing drawn changes with it.

Can I draw on layers?

Yes, on a canvas of your own of up to 4,096 pixels a side: choose "Use layers" when you make it, or switch them on later in its settings (they stay on). It has up to four layers, shared by everyone drawing there, each with its own name, order, opacity, visibility, lock and blend mode (normal, multiply or screen). Everyone picks the layer they draw on, and an eraser erases only its own layer. Hidden layers are left out of exports, and the SVG keeps each layer as a group.

Can I keep or share what I drew?

Select any region and export it as a PNG, as an SVG with every stroke as a vector, or as an MP4 time-lapse of how it was drawn. Or share a link that opens the canvas at exactly that spot and zoom.

Can I make my own brushes?

Yes. Beside 192 ready brushes, the brush generator makes brushes of your own: pick a shape, then soften, squash, turn, add grain or scatter it. Your brushes are kept in your browser, and every stroke carries its brush, so everyone sees it the same on every canvas and in every export.

Can I make a private canvas?

Yes. A private canvas shows only to the people you invite to watch or to draw, and, if you allow it, to visitors who may watch. As the owner you can also block people, limit exports, protect regions and clear an area or the whole canvas.

Can I keep others from drawing over part of my canvas?

Yes. Select a part of your canvas and protect it under a name. Only you, the people you let in and our admins (on a public canvas also our moderators) can draw there; everyone else's strokes stop at its edge, and they see whose region it is.

What if I see something that should not be there?

Report it: MultiDraw → Help → Report… sends the spot in view with what is wrong, also without an account, and you get a report number at once. Moderators and admins decide, and an account they act against is told why and can contest the decision.

Can I delete my account, or take my data with me?

Yes, both, whenever you like. Download my data gives you one file with your account, canvases, rights and your drawings on every canvas. Delete account asks whether your drawings go with it or stay without your name; your own canvases wait in the trash for 30 days.

What happens if I forget my password?

There is no email address on file to recover it with, so you create a new account. We keep as little as possible: a username and a password hash, no email address, so there is nothing to send a reset to.

Is MultiDraw World free?

Yes. It runs in your browser at no cost and needs no install.
